About the project
A-Maps is a mobile mapping and navigation app for users that allows people to explore nearby businesses, plan routes, and bookmark locations. The app is structured around business cards, address-based search, category filtering, and personalized route building.
I joined the project during its post-launch support stage to help improve usability and visual consistency across several key user flows. My task was not to build the app from scratch, but to refine the existing UI and fix visual or logic-based issues in production-ready design files.
My contributions
1. Route planning flow
• Adjusted the logic and styling of the start/destination input fields
• Improved the visual behavior of state transitions (e.g., search focus, swap button, saved address fields)
• Optimized the appearance and feedback of route calculation states across transport types (car, bike, pedestrian)
2. Address & business card interface (map + details view)
• Reviewed and corrected layout inconsistencies in business info cards
• Improved visual hierarchy for key elements (address, ratings, action buttons)
• Unified spacing and alignment between different business profiles
• Updated text style logic to match system design standards
3. Address input modals
• Refined “Add home/work address” dialogs with correct field focus states and placeholder handling
• Added consistent “Save”/“Cancel” button hierarchy and colors
• Polished search behavior and address suggestion display
4. Lists and saved locations
• Designed and corrected UI for custom list creation (e.g., “Clinics”, “Groceries”, etc.)
• Aligned list styling with the rest of the UI and improved button accessibility on mobile
5. Additional improvements
• Updated corner radius, spacing, and button styles for consistency
• Verified system font sizes and color contrast for WCAG compliance
• Worked closely with developers to hand off improved Figma components
• Delivered pixel-perfect design specs for revised components
Result
My work improved the overall consistency, clarity, and usability of the A-Karty interface across several key user scenarios. Though I joined the project at a late stage, I helped resolve design debt and brought the product closer to production quality.
